Employment Opportunity at The Christensen Law Firm

The Christensen Law Firm, PLLC is looking for a top notch legal assistant.

We represent individuals against insurance companies. Our clients are individuals and families who have suffered the loss of health or life in a variety of cases. We are a recognized leader in our field. We are passionate about our work and our positions in the world.

Most of our cases come on referral from doctors, lawyers or our own clients. Our practice is growing by leaps and bounds. I encourage you to visit our website at www.utahpersonalinjurylawfirm.com. Feel free to call other law firms to ask what they think of us.

What are the five most important attributes of the person who is right for this position?

A Cooperative Attitude. Your responsibilities will be diverse and wide-ranging. Some will be complicated and some will seem mundane, but all are necessary for our ability to represent our clients. Your good nature and appreciation of professionalism is essential. We want happy, upbeat people working here.

Adaptability. As is often the case in small firms, we have no rigid “job description” for this position. At various times we all have to fill in for each other or pitch in when the need arises. As we grow, things will change. If you need to know exactly what your duties will be every day, this is not the place for you.

Diligence. We are looking for someone who pays attention to detail. You must have a great command of the English Language, both written and spoken. We can’t be cringing when you answer the phone and butcher the English language. Being careful and asking lots of questions is vital. If you do speak a second language, preferably Spanish, that could prove very helpful.

Creativity. Every day we have problems to solve, big and small. We need someone who can identify problems, figure out an efficient way to get it solved and then work with others in the office to get it done. You will find that this is a place where we are not afraid to “think outside of the box.” A lot of companies preach this. We do it.

Technologically Literate. We have invested a lot of time and money in technology to ensure our practice is running efficiently. We use a number of interesting programs, but the only one you must be proficient at from the beginning is Microsoft Word. However, we need to know that you are not afraid of technology. If you do not know the difference between a right- and a left mouse click, then we really do not have the time to teach you, and this job is not for you. On the other hand, if you are someone who just “gets it” with computers, you will fit right in.

So, what are your responsibilities?

• You will be the first face clients see when they walk in the door and the first voice clients hear when they call our firm

• You will provide ongoing assistance to one of the attorneys, including dictation, filing, scanning, drafting cover letters, making phone calls and keeping electronic data up to date

• You will provide general office support for the firm, which may include ensuring the office is presentable for client and attorney conferences, filing documents with the court, ordering supplies and, on occasion, traveling to obtain office supplies.

• You will assist in receiving and distributing daily mail and outgoing packages, preparing bulk mailings and reviewing copy for publication.

What’s the pay?

Your starting salary will be $25,000 - $30,000 per year, but can be more based on experience and training.

What are the benefits?

Small firm atmosphere

We are organized. We won’t come to you at 5:00
and tell you that we have an “emergency” and
need you to stick around.

Casual work environment
Paid lunch hour
Free parking
There are no health insurance benefits. Everyone here is either insured privately or through a spouse’s employer.

We are looking for the best person for the job and we don’t feel obligated to do things like other firms do in terms of minimal education level and/or job experience. If you meet the other “requirements” set out above, then you might be the best person for this job.

Vacation/Sick Leave Policy

As you may imagine, attendance is very important for this position. At this position, you will accrue eight (8) hours of paid leave for every month you work here. Up to 2 weeks a year.
