A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on August 8, 2009, claiming the life of a California resident. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, 53-year-old Leland Lloyd was riding his motorcycle in Washington City, UT around 9:15 a.m. Saturday morning. A Ford Explorer made a left-hand turn in front of Lloyd, and the two vehicles crashed head-on. Although Lloyd was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, he was killed by the impact of the collision. John Hanson, the driver of the Explorer, was arrested on suspicion of several crimes, including automobile homicide, driving under the influence, an improper left turn, and an open container in a vehicle.
